Hey, they’re CEOs. My name is Brandee Gaar, and my mission is to help you, the wedding industry entrepreneur, to build a profitable wedding business that you actually love. Welcome to the Wedding Pro CEO podcast. You guys today, I want to ask you, have you ever heard of a three thumb scroll? I hadn’t either until my conversation with Tahnee Sanders.
Tahnee is such a breath of fresh air. We talk all about how social media may be hurting your business. We’re also talking about the upside for not having repeat clients in the wedding industry. Plus, what you can do in your social media to rebuild that creativity and to be inspired by your social media so that you can continue to inspire others.
I absolutely loved this conversation. It’s such a fresh new look on the way to handle social media as a consumer and as somebody that’s creating content for your ideal customers. I know that you are gonna love this episode and I cannot wait to dig in with you.

Having an effective social media presence is essential for businesses in today’s digital landscape. With so many options available, it is important for our businesses to employ strategies to maximize their reach on social media.
Having a strong presence on social media can help businesses to create a community and connect with customers, promote their products or services, and build brand recognition. With a well-planned strategy, businesses can reach a wider audience and increase their online visibility.
But perhaps you have been pushing out content and following other “friendors” in your market and your feed is saturated. What do you do?
Or maybe you are tired or even EXHAUSTED from feeding the content monster so much and you just need a fresh bit of inspiration yourself! I hope you will listen and be refreshed!
1. Do a “three thumb scroll” by scrolling down several posts on a person’s profile.
2. Mute or unfollow competitors and other people in the wedding industry from your feed.
3. Follow people outside of the wedding industry who are not trying to market to the same customers as you.
It’s interesting the habits you develop as entrepreneurial marketer for your business.Have you heard of the “3 thumb scroll”? Neither had I, but that didn’t mean I had not done something similar when I am looking for accounts to follow.
The “three thumb scroll” is scrolling down several posts on a person’s profile. This is a great way to get an overview of a person’s content and get an idea of their style and message.
To do this, simply go to the profile page and scroll down with three fingers or thumbs at the same time. You will be able to scroll down quickly and easily, you’ll view several posts quickly.
This is a great way to get an idea of what kind of content the person is posting and how it might be relevant to you. We get a feel for the person’s style and personality through their posts.
This can be a great way to gain insight into the person and their message, making it easier to decide if you want to follow them or not.
Once you have finished the three thumb scroll, the next step is to dive deeper into the content the person is posting. Take the time to read through their posts and understand what they are trying to communicate.
This can be a great way to determine if the content is something you can relate to or if it is something that may be of interest to you. Take the time to look at any comments the person has made on their posts. This can give you a better understanding of their activity with their audience. Are the comments engaging and thoughtful?
If you find that the content is something that you can relate to and that is of interest to you, then make sure to follow the person and keep up with their posts. If you don’t make time to interact on social media where your Ideal Clients live, make time for it! Schedule it on your calendar. Need help with what to say? Muting or unfollowing competitors and other people in the wedding industry from our feed can help us to reduce saturation and discover fresh content. Start by creating separate business and personal accounts on Instagram.
With our personal account, we can scroll through our home feed to see content that makes us laugh or inspires creativity.
With our business accounts, we can mute or unfollow our competitors for a short period of time and see if that helps refresh our feed with some new recommended content. The goal is to be exposed to fresh content while still being able to show support to our fellow wedding pros in our market and online.
This can help us to significantly reduce saturation and give us the space to think creatively.

Following people outside of the wedding industry who are not trying to market to the same customers as you is a great way to avoid the saturation that can come from constantly seeing the same content in your social media feeds.
It can be extremely beneficial to your creative process and mental health to take a break from the wedding industry and focus on getting inspired by people who are doing something completely different.
One way to find people outside of the wedding industry is to look at the accounts of people who have shared your content, or who you have interacted with in the past. This is a great way to find people who have similar interests, but who are doing something completely different than what you are doing.
You can also look for accounts related to topics like travel, art, fashion, and food, which can all be sources of inspiration and creativity.
You can also join online communities that focus on topics outside of the wedding industry, which can be an excellent source of inspiration and creativity.
