Have you ever been going about your day and get the little “tap tap” on your wrist from Apple reminding you to Breathe?? And you just stare at it like…”Um…I’m a busy girl! I don’t have time to breathe!!”
Why does this little device even think you need to breathe anyway?? Does it sense your stress?? Can it feel your heart rate rising?? Who does it think it is to tell you to calm down?!?
Ok…please tell me it’s not just me that goes through this!
I can’t be alone here right??
I literally never do the exercise when it tells me to. But today, for some reason, I kept looking down at that little screen thinking “come on. Tell me to breathe. I need some dedicated calming breaths. I need to someone or something to tell me to just breathe.”
Some days the list of to-dos, the number of worries, the overwhelm of responsibilities just becomes too much. It feels heavy and burdensome and can make you feel defeated even before your feet hit the ground in the morning.
But do you know why Apple added this little reminder to its standard alerts?? In an article by USA Today, the tech giant says that “conscious breathing allows you to shift and release negative energy instead of storing it in your body, according to the Mayo Clinic.”
I don’t know about you, but today I need to shift and release. I need a minute to take in the fresh air and recognize all of the blessings that are surrounding me as I release the junk that’s filling my heart and mind with fear. Today, I’ll tap that little blue spiral and do the exercise. Today, I’ll breathe.
