The Wedding Pro CEO Podcast
[00:00:00] Brandee Gaar: Hey, they’re CEOs. Welcome back to today’s Thursday short of the Wedding Pro CEO podcast. I’m your host Brandee Gaar, and I love getting to come to you every single week and help you to build a profitable wedding business that you actually love.
You guys, We are officially in the month of March and this month, every single year brings such a renewed sense of energy for me.
I don’t know if it’s because we now are gonna start getting warmer weather or if we’re gonna have longer days. Uhh! I’m so excited about the longer days or if it’s because it’s my birthday month, but either way, I have so much energy to close the quarter strong because although this month is ringing in the start to spring, it’s also closing out the very first quarter of the year.
Here we are in the last month of the first quarter, and it’s so important that we take this time and this month. To really do a pace check
[00:01:00] on our goals from the beginning of the year.
Now back on episode 167. I shared with you how I set my goals every single year and how I goal set with my accelerator members as well.
I think goal setting is such an important part of building a sustainable and successful and profitable wedding business because it helps to create a roadmap. For where you’re going and where you want to be.
So here in this last month of the first quarter, I want you to do a pace check to see how you’re doing on those goals you set.
Now, the first thing you’re gonna need to do is to go find those goals, right? Hopefully they’re not stuffed in a drawer somewhere or stuck in a notebook that you never even opened up again.
I would love it if you told me that they were pasted to the side of your computer or they were hanging on a wall right next to you.
but if I’m being honest, I totally know how it goes to set some of these goals and they kind of go by the wayside when we start to get busy.
[00:02:00] I can be guilty of that as well. And I’ll share a little bit with you about how I’m doing with my goals as well.
The next thing I want you to do is I want you to go through each of those goals that you set and really look at where you should be pacing by this point in the year.
Now, I know it seems a little bit crazy to say, wow, we’re already looking at pacing our goals? We’re only two months end of the year. We’re just now starting the third month of the year, but that’s the whole point. If we don’t pace every quarter to where we should be, you can get really far off of your goals and then it kind of feels like this mountain you’ve gotta climb at some point to get back on track. And then we don’t do that, right?
So I wanna challenge you, ceo to really take these goals seriously and to focus on where you are and what you need to do to course correct. Or if you’re exceeding your goals, maybe you need to set some further stretch goals for yourself, right? So the first type of goal that I.
encouraged you to set back in episode 167 is a financial goal. This one’s probably the easiest
[00:03:00] for you to go do a pace check really, really quick, see where you’re pacing financially. Have you been hitting your sales goals for January and February? I feel like in my accelerator group, I’ve heard all over the place.
I’ve heard some CEOs that are coming in and saying February was their best month they’ve ever had in their business. And I’ve had other CEOs saying like, the leads are super dry and it. Ghost town out there, right?
So I want you to, get that financial goal out, and I want you to see where should we be by this first week of March?
Where should we be financially? How much should we have booked in January and February? Have we done that? If you’re behind on your goals, what would it take for you to book in March to make sure that you hit a total quarter one goal? Or if you’re exceeding your goals for both January and February, what might you need to edit your goals to, to make sure that you’re still stretching and that you’re using that extra money that you’ve been making smartly in your business? You need to understand where you’re
[00:04:00] pacing. Every single month. I like to encourage my CEOs in my group to not necessarily get discouraged if you’re up way up or way down each month. Sometimes you can have a really high January and a really low February, but it kind of balanced out at the end, right?
“Or if you’re exceeding your goals for both January and February, what might you need to edit your goals to, to make sure that you’re still stretching and that you’re using that extra money that you’ve been making smartly in your business?”
Brandee Gaar
So I always like to give myself some grace and say, okay, that wasn’t a great month. For the entire quarter, we’re actually right on pace, and this is why right here in this last month of the quarter, I’m encouraging you to really take a look at that financial goal and see either what you need to book in March to hit your entire quarter one goal, or how much you’ve exceeded it, for the quarter.
Okay. The next goal that I encourage you to set back in episode 167 was a team goal. So that team goal could be adding a new team member doing additional training with your team. I want you to look at that goal and I want you to see how are we doing with that?
If you said you were gonna start incorporating weekly or monthly staff meetings, how are you
[00:05:00] doing with that? If you said that you were gonna start incorporating a quarterly all staff in-person, how are you doing with that?
If you said you were gonna hire a new team member, how are you doing with that? Right?
Again, this is just a pace check to see what do I need to do here in the month of March to make sure that I’m hitting my entire quarter one goals so that I don’t get so far off track that it becomes this whole elephant that I have to eat later this summer.
Right? We’re not gonna get to that point. I wanna hold you accountable. CEOs. I wanna hold you accountable.
And the third type of goal I encourage you to set back episode 167 was a personal goal. So this personal goal could literally be anything. It could be that you were gonna start taking more weekends off.
It could be that you were gonna take a vacation. It could be weight loss, it could be exercise, it could be literally anything you wanted it to be. But it needed to be about you as the human and not necessarily the CEO. Right?
Because we need to make sure that we’re taking care of ourselves as a human so
[00:06:00] that we can show up for our business in the best way that it needs us to be. Right?
So your personal goal might be the most challenging for you to do a pace check on and say like, how am I actually doing with this?
I’ll give you an example of mine.
My personal goal was to move my body for 30 minutes a day, every single day, and that sounds like such an easy goal to meet, right? Like 30 minutes a day. You guys, this is not difficult. But I had a lot of personal things that happened, literally starting on the first day of January.
So like right after I set my goals, I ended up finding out that my father was sick and we, actually lost him in the early part of February.
And you know, I definitely let this goal go as you can imagine, and it has been bothering me because I know that the stress of that took so much toll on my body. And what I actually needed to be doing was to hold myself even more accountable to meeting this goal of moving
[00:07:00] my body. Getting outside and taking a walk or getting outside and even just pulling weeds or just moving my body and stretching. It’s so good for my mental health and I know, I know that. And so going through something so… crazy in my personal life and then still trying to run both of the businesses that we have is I, I actually should have held myself even harder to that goal, but I didn’t.
I let it go and that’s okay.
There has to be grace, right? If you were in a similar boat as me, if you had your personal life kind of go crazy and you maybe slacked on some of your goals, or maybe you didn’t even have such a crazy start to the year. You just were so busy and things got overwhelming and you got off track with your goals.
If you were like me and you got a little off track with some of your goals, can I encourage you CEO to really refocus this month and say, you know what? I didn’t quite hit that goal, and that’s okay, but it’s time to
[00:08:00] refocus and get back on track. I know for me personally, for me to show up for all of my team members, for me to show up, for all of my students, for me to show up for my family and my husband and my business in the best way possible, I 100% have to take care of my body and my mental health.
I know that, and I have to quit putting that on the back burner. So I will encourage you to hold me accountable just like I’m gonna hold you accountable.
I’d love for you to come over to the Wedding Pro CEO community on Facebook. If you’re not already a member, you can drop down to the show notes below. It’s a totally free community of CEOs who are building their empires together, we are building each other up and we are saying no more to overwhelm and overworked and stressed out.
We are saying yes to smart businesses that are profitable and sustainable and that we love because they, they build us up as CEOs, but they also build us up as human beings and as moms
[00:09:00] and as wives, and as a husbands, right? I want you to come over to the Wedding Pro CEO community, and I want you to tell us how are you doing on your goals? Are you pacing right along and you’re killing it? Do you need a little encouragement from some of the rest of the CEOs in the group? I know I do. I would love it if you held me accountable to say, Hey Brandee, how’s that move goal going every single day? Right?
I would love it if you did that for me. I promise you that if you come and tell us how you’re pacing on your goals, I will hold you accountable and I know so many others in the group will as well.
All right, you guys. Thank you so much for being here every single week and I will see you next time.
