“A goal without a plan is just a dream.” If you’ve been around long enough, I’m sure you’ve heard me say this because it’s true. So why is it so important? Setting goals gives us direction, purpose, and motivation. By having a clear vision of what we want to achieve, we can take actionable steps to turn dreams into reality.
You NEED to have a business plan to slay those goals right? Many of us make the mistake of simply writing down our goals and letting them collect dust. So, without a plan in place, these goals just become aspirations. So, here’s what I do… I like putting every single thing I want to achieve on a calendar, with the most important tasks taking priority.
You have to set 3 overarching goals: one personal goal, one revenue goal, and one business goal. By honing in on on these three areas, you create a well-rounded plan that covers both personal and business growth.
Personal goals are the foundation of your business success. These can include big trips, marathons, or even family time! Whatever it is that you love! You need to block off time on your calendar for personal activities like vacations, birthdays, and important family moments. By prioritizing personal goals, you achieve work-life balance and ensure that you’re setting aside time for self-care.
Revenue goals are SO important to the success of any business. But you can’t just set any goal and expect to meet those goals! You have to set S.M.A.R.T: specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely revenue goals! Break down your overall revenue goal into smaller monthly goals, making it easier to track progress.
Your business goals should align with your revenue goals. Consider factors like rebranding or hiring new team members. These goals should still be S.M.A.R.T: specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely. Set aside time and resources to accomplish these business goals and ensure they contribute to your overall success in your biz.
To make your goals a reality, create specific boundaries around your time. One of my biggest personal boundaries is that I DO NOT take any calls on Mondays and Fridays. I also really encourage you to not schedule calls after 3 p.m. This allows you to have dedicated time for both work and personal things.
To make sure you stay on track, regularly review your goals and progress. I encourage you to continuously assess your performance and adjust your plan if necessary.
