As a creative entrepreneur, it’s easy to get caught up in the creative aspects of your business and forget that you’re also a business owner.
Treating your business like a business means understanding the importance of profitability and creating systems that work for you. It means transitioning from the Hustle stage to the Blooming onion stage to the CEO stage.

The first stage of business is the Hustle stage, where you’re working more and doing everything yourself. You are zero to two, maybe three years in business and less than $60,000 in revenue.
The second stage is the Blooming Onion stage, where you have a team of people working for you and you’re about five or six years in business, and you’re really somewhere between $60,000-$70,000 in revenue up to about $150,000 in revenue.
Finally, there’s the CEO stage, where your systems are working for you and making you money. You have stepped into that CEO role. You have built that team, automated processes and you have pulled yourself out of the day-to-day of your business. And in this stage of business, it’s your systems that are gonna work more!! Not you!
“So first stage of business, the Hustle stage, you are working more. In the second stage of business, the Blooming Onion stage, your team is working more. Now in this last stage of business, the CEO stage, your systems, processes and automation is working more!“
One of the ways to increase profitability in your business is to automate your workflows. Instead of a human having to touch every single phase of your business, you can start to automate some of that.
You can have email workflows, sales funnels, and a CRM that automatically does some of the work for you.
For example, when a client pays their contract, the CRM can automatically turn them into a client and send them an onboarding email.
“A business makes money, a business makes money. That’s the beginning and the end of it. A business makes money. If you are not making money in your business, you have a hobby, and that’s okay if that’s what you’re doing.”

Another way to increase profitability is to automate some of your team’s responsibilities. This means creating a strategic, organizational chart for your business. Instead of constantly directing your team, you can become the head coach and have people underneath you who know their role and are training up the next generation underneath them.
For example, in my company, I have a director of operations who handles all of our CRM management, client onboarding, and contractor management. Our sales manager handles all of our sales and networking, and a company culture and team training manager, her job is to really make sure that everybody on the team understands our mission, our vision, our values that they’re providing.
By having people in these roles, I can focus on the big picture and growing my business.
“I will always tell you to scale! That is the way that I believe in teaching Wedding Pros to make more money, to be more profitable, to be able to get back their own lives, to be able to run a business that doesn’t run them so that you don’t have to work every single Saturday. It’s by scaling, it’s by growing a team. This is how you do it!!!”

What I want you to do is I want you to hustle with intentionality. I want your hustle to look different. I want you to be thoughtful about every single minute spent in your business.”

Obviously you need to be on social media, you need to be on Instagram! Be active, comment, share value, DM fellow vendors, answer questions!
You need to be posting three to five times a week. You need to be posting reels. You need to be posting stories. I’m not gonna belabor this because I probably have at least a dozen episodes on social media alone.
